Evaluation task seven.

Looking backat your preliminary task (the continuity editing task) what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking at all three of these shots i can safely say that we as a group have defiantly moved further one from our preliminary task to our final product.  Starting from when we first filmed the task the camera work was not clear and cut to the way it should be due to the tripod not being used to the standard it should have been used at.
Now to our final task the tripod was used almost all the time ensuring we had a stable shot.

With the camera in filming the preliminary task, we used the school camera meaning straight away what was shot was not to the best standard possible. But also because of the school camera everything which applied on it we as a group did not know about meaning things that were shot weren't to the standard they should be. For our final task we used my own camera giving the shot HD view and better quality. Also this meant everything on the camera we knew what they were and how to work them.

Finally when it came down to editing it was a whole new programme we had to use and get used to. This was because it was on a mac and no one in our group owned one meaning everything was new to us. So editing the preliminary task to a long time and we did not use it to the best we could have. When it came down to our final product everything was learnt that we had to learn when it came down to editing. The programme was used to the best standard it could have been giving our film many different structures and views. i.e slow motion.

Evaluation task six.

What have you learnt about technologies?
Looking at this picture we have a wide range of technologies such as the camera, tripod and mac. We used all of these different range of technologies in the making of our film.

Starting of with the tripod, this came in very handy in assuring the filming was straight and steady when it was needed. It made sure that when we were filming it made creating the shots a lot longer with steady movement, and also made when zooming much more of an ease in assuring it was kept straight.

Now with the camera, this appliance was key to making our movie as it got all our hard work of acting on tape. We used our own camera instead of the schools camera meaning the view find was HD and the camera itself was much smaller making the filming a lot easier and much easier to move around.

And lastly looking at the mac. The mac was there once we had done all our filming to edit everything we had done and ensure that it was edited to the right standard needed. The mac contained a programme called imovie which we did all our editing on giving the movie we have.

Evaluation task five.

This is our video that has been edited with annotations on what the reason for the shot is and how it attracts and address the audience. They are only in the key area's of the film. Such as the final shot showing the audience the title of the film and how it is significant to the film.

Evaluation task four.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for our media product is very easy to answer as the film genre we have chosen rules out young children in the first place. That would be Thriller. Secondly with research citizens of the older generation either don't watch film all together or one's of the earlyier stages in life. So that leaves us with teens, young adults and adults. Now the film we have made is targeted at the audience of teens and this is due to the plot in which occurs older adults would not relate too.

Teens in which would watch our type of film would be one's who like to be scared and aren't easily fooled. This is because they like a thrill and the Exhilaration which it gives and not believe everything they see and hear. This type of film doesn't exactly narrow it down to a certain sort of teen but it can cover a range but one thing it does narrow it down to is the faint hearted. Any teen who does not like to be scared or has a phobia of scarry things this film is not for them.

The film certificate we would give for this film would be 15 as there is no dramatic scenes that will frighten you but the plot itself is twisted enough.

Evaluation Activity three.

What kind of media Institution might distribute your media product and why?

Firstly looking at whats on at the cinema;
Most of the films showing at the cinema this month are action and adventure but this varies depending on what month you are in or what the latest biggest film is out. i.e in novemeber the new James bond film came out which is an action/adventure so most of the films showing are of this same genre.
Film Festivals;
There are a range of film festivals in the UK but one of the biggest is in London called BFI Film Institute. BFI is not just a comapny who brings festivals to places but it is in actual a fact a film institute supporting the production of a wide range of films such as James Bond.
 There is also a different type of film festival called Liff. Liff is a festival dedicated to films made by us, non known film directors giving us all a chance. There is a first and second prize and it is where thousands of people get together to enjoy other people hard work and efforts.
Independent Cineama's;

The biggest independent cinema office is  (ICO) and it is the national support organisation for independent exhibitors of all kinds including cinemas, film festivals and film societies.
Young film maker's competition;
The bbc hold whats called a Film network, now this is a page in which is dedicated to a page full of competitions in which you can enter for a film maker. Such as

48 Hour Film Challenge

A new meaning to 'short films'. Select a genre. Receive a character, prop and line of dialogue to appear in your film. The rest is up to you to decide- and to create and complete - in 48 hours!

Now looking at all of these i think that entering our film into a competition would distribute our media product as there are many you can enter, one's for first timers and our specific genre. I think that by going down the cometition route we as a group could have alot of fun with it and even maybe something get something bigger out of it and our names known to someone in the buissness of film making.

I think if we went for any of the other routes our film would be blown off as we are just first timers and probably have alot to learn in order for it to be on the big screen.

BUT

When are film does get on the big screen our media product will start in small cinema's and expand!

Evaluation Activity two.

This is a key character to our opening, Played by Emily Howlett. Emily is playing a 10 year old little girl named Isobella. Isobella is kept in the cage at the end of her fathers garden where she is fed dog food and the only person who knows about this sickening, twisted scheme is her father, the one who is creating it.

A character who is abit like Isobella is called Kim who is played by Maggie Grace in the film Taken. The reasons for saying these two characters are like eachother is because of the predicament they have been put in. They both were made to do something against there own will and are truley frightened and damaged because of these actions. Isobella is being kept in a cage against her own accord and Kim had been taken and turned into a prostatute also against her own accord.
They both can't get out of there situations without the help of someone else not involved and if it carries on for both of them they will die of a young age.

The differences between them both is the age they play 10 and 16, and the locations they play in. Isobella stays mostly in the back garden in a cage until the end where as with Kim she moves around alot from America to France.

Evaluation Activity One.

This  first shot establishes the title of the film. The title of the film is 'hidden' and is placed over the top of the girl being hidden's eye. We as a group thought this was very striking and caught the audience's attention very well. The font of the title gives the immpretion of secrecy and the unknown which refelcts spot on to what the film is about. The eye placed behind it, shows a tear falling from her eye creating the immpretion to the audience of fear, desperation, sadness and lonelyness which once again reflects not only the story but the character aswell.
The title fades in from one end and out the other giving it very much a suttle entrance to the screen and not so much a rushed one. We chose as a group the colour as white for the title because it showed up better against the background and still gave your eyes looking at the screen room to see what else was going on in the screen.

This shot establishes all the costumes and props, forst off starting with sam sitting in the chair wearing Army gear. This is the costume we as a group chose to put sam in as he is supposed to reflect in the film as being an 'ex army sargent'. Because of this background to the  character this uniform gave that immpretion to the audience straight away. Now looking at the props we have the overall setting of a old fashioned styled house with the odd british flag and radio added in and the odd few beers giving the audience even more of the immpretion that sam 'the actor' still does rituals from the olden days when he was young i.e. like listening to the radio instead of watching TV.

This third shot shows camera and editing. In this shot the camera is being moved with the actor down the stairs, as though some one is watching him for themselfes, and it also shows match on action as when sam (the actor) turns the corner to go into the kitchen it is cut from the last few stairs. This takes out the audience viewing pointless footage and keeps them engaged with what is happening with the scene at this point. From the start when sam comes down the stairs we can not see the top of his head not giving him the full porportion body length until he comes further down the stairs. We as a audience thought this was good in giving the audience watching different ways of seeing sam in action.

This next shot shows the certain type of font and style we have used, we as a group wanted to give of the impression of secrecy and the 'unknown' and we believed with this font it gave off this impression. The font used isn't clear cut which is the reason for the colour 'white' but we thought that white worked well considering you can see it on all shots used in the film.
As the font is not clear cut it also gave of a thriller genre to the audience working well with the film itself.

This shot most defianly is the best for showing you as the audience about the story and how the opening sets it up. The story is about a girl and her father. The father suffers from shell shock and after already loosing his dear wife he does not want this feeling to happen again with his daughter doing the same thing. So to prefent this he keeps her in a cage at the end of his garden which now one knows about but him. This shot shows a view of someone looking out a cage and looking towards the light inside the house.
The gist of the shot was supposed to make the audience look from the characters persepective but not actually knowing from who's persepective they are looking through giving the sense of unkown and chilling sensation through them.
The shot is also in night vision making everything on screen not perfectly clear except the light coming from the house.

This shot in hand shows you very much what genre of the film it is. This is because of the un-nerving shot of a dark place outside, suggesting it is cold and the sight of seeing a young girl in a cage. No light hearted films have scenes like this creating this much suspense. The genre is thriller and therefore we need to show this within the forst few minutes of shooting. So with shot looking through night vision it creates that chill for the audience. Within the shot it pans through giving everything mise-en-scene.

In all films characters have to be introduced so for our film we wanted to introduce sam one of main characters in a light in which he performs everyday, that is putting on his army uniform. It is an over the shoulder showing him in a different perspective than just face on. The shot shows him putting the final touches on putting his hat on with the title 'evans evans'. This tells the audience who is is and what character is is playing.

This final shot shows the special effects. The reason for this is in doing press ups we as a group have put it in slow motion giving the time taken effect. This effect works very well due to the only action sam is doing being up and down.

Micro-Analysis on TAKEN.

Cinematography - The camera work and shots of the opening sequence are very much mid to close up shots of the characters and their facial expressions to establish their personality. The movement of the camera is very much jumpy from one scene or setting to the next from the previous to the 'now'. Sound - Sound is music, over the top of flash backs. Mise-en-scene - what you can see one the screen is distablishing characters, so the main character, the daughter, mum and step dad as well as etablishing there relashionships. Editing - The editing of the scene is the ross cutting of a home video made for the film and what is happening in the everyday life. The macro analysis all fit in with the genre of film due to the story being about someone being taken, there is a home video of the innocent little girl creating the tense atmosphere. The location is very much alive as it is set in the busy city of New York and then France both at night life. And finally the characters are very much related to the plot, they fit in very well and create the story from the inside out.

The film Industry Prezi

Evaluation of the Preliminary Task.

Our task was to 'Film and edit a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom he/she then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue'.

 Editing.
I am happy with the final result due as it came out as i we planned it too. To improve our sequence though we could have used a tripod ensuring the stillness of the shot stayed suffice. We could have also used more variety of shots then just the two we used, this would of probably made the sequence more interesting to watch. As a group i think we worked well as we all had our roles and stuck to them, the planning before had a very good impact as as we a both actors knew what we are doing and saying.

 Filming.
this we decided on a head teacher student role with the head teacher being played my moi and the student played by 'Samuel Evans'. The discussion we had was to do with his poor grades and if they are not to go up by the end of the month there will be consequences.
The shots we used was panning and over the shoulder shot. On the screen was seen either a shot of Sam's shoulder and the front of me behind my desk when i had dialogue and if it was sam speaking it would be my shoulder and sam's front sitting on a chair.

Using the camera in imovie i was confident due to previous work being produced on this system.

Researching Genre.

A chosen film in my genre i am looking at is one of my favourite called 'Taken'.

- A quick synopsis of the plot; An ex-solidier (liam neeson) travelling through Europe (paris) embarks on a franticquest to resue her daughter (Maggie Grace) after the young girl is abducted by slave traders.
 1. The plot to this film when i first watched it was indeed what i expected, this was due to all the talk but also the front cover and trailer coverage of the film. Within the plot of the film it is obvious to say that i expected someone to be taken but i think that that whole daughter of an ex-soldier/spy is genius! There are no ther films i can think of that competes at the level as this film.

2. Character profile;
 - Liam neeson plays a man called 'Bryan Mills' who is an ex-soldier who uses his previous employment skills to find his daughter. His daughter is called 'Kim' who is played by 'Maggie Grace'.
- Lenore is Bryan ex-wife played by 'Famke Jensson' and is married by a man called Jean Claude played by 'Olivier Rabourdin'.
& finally the man is in on taking kim and is at the end of the phone is called Marko and is played by 'Arben Bajraktaraj'.
These characters are all the typical kind used in this genre of film as there are always to sides, a good cop and a bad cop. A victim and the victims family.

3. Only two of the characters played had worked in this genre before and that is Liam neeson here are just a few -  Taken 1/2, the Grey, unknown, Chloe, The A-Team, darkman, suspect, the dark knight rises and many more.
 And also Maggie Grace again these are just a few the end, cold case, expose, knight and day, lockout, the following and collision.
 - I think they have been chosen for the role as they are superb in that genre due to there ability of acting.

4. The themes and values you would expect in this film are torture, drug trafficing, despair, revenge, ex and political corruption.

5. The sort of locations i would expect would be a busy one such as in a city or town. The film was set in busy Hollywood and LA.

Interview.

This is my video in which i made showing an interview on the very talented Christopher Nolan. There is an interviewer and Christopher. I used the questions in which you would expect in an interview but also one's that were easy to grasp. The interview is supposed to be recent and about his new blockbuster film the dark knight rises.

Psycho ScreenShots.

1. This is a close up shot of the lady’s mouth showing her emotion through the camera to the audience. The emotion that transpires is terrified and shocked. The reason for the close up is to show the audience the feelings

2. This is a mid shot showing not all of the lady’s body but just the top half. This shot shows great emotion and fear the lady is going through in the shower due to a man with a knife which we can gladly see in the left hand corner. (A shadow of a man’s arm in the air).
The emotion on the lady’s face is very clear and strong transferring it to the audience when watching.
3. This is once again another mid shot showing the audience mes- en-scene. The shot is a mid close up of the character showing what he is wearing and the expression on his face quite clearly. We can also see where the character is based giving of the sense of fear to the audience due to the big pictures and birds on that wall.
